I received an e-mail that we had more than enough registrants... but too many decided to leave before the 'parade'. We did NOT break the record. We had 847 Mustangs...  :(   Bummer.... I was there... Looked like a lot... but I did see quite a few leave...

You are correct, they said we had more than enough. I'm not sure but I think the problem could have been toward the end of the lap attempt. After we had done the inside track portion of the lap we left out of the track on the back stretch and made a right turn back toward turn 2, then around turn 1, past the front entrance and on around turns 4 and 3 back to the tunnel entrance where they had posted a person motioning us to make a u turn which I assumed was the end of the attempt.  Some cars left at the turn two highway entrance, still more cars left at the front entrance. If this outside track portion of the lap was part of the record attempt then this is where the problem arose. If it was, then there should have been people stationed at those places to make sure cars continued on around. I know where the attempt started but have no idea where it ended. We saw someone standing near where it started at trying to shout directions over all those cars with no speaker or bull horn. Out of everything he said all we could make out was 5mph. It's disappointing    that Mustangs of Mexico ( that's right Mexico ) holds this record while here in the home of the Mustang (where there's millions more than in Mexico ) we can't get our      together after two attempts.

My old pony has only been out of the barn one time since Mustang Week last year.  :(  But i'll be taking the cover off soon and give the old gal a new shine and a short road test to get ready for the Grand Opening of the Mustang Museum April 16-20.  ;D

Yep, we'll be there. I have been a member almost since they first opened registration about two years ago. I'm both a Charter and Founder member.  We are staying at one of the host hotels (Sleep Inn Suites) which is located just behind the hotel that we had for the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration Show back April of 2014. We'll be there Thursday and Friday evening. I think it's been booked full for about two months now. Theresa and I will be picking up our registration packets Thursday around noon time. From there we'll get some lunch and then head to the Speedway to take part in the Guinness World Record Parade of Mustangs @ CMS 6PM. Friday after breakfast we'll hit the Museum and leave about 2pm to pick my granddaughter up at school. She lives about 5 miles from there. We will not be attending the Hall of Fame Dinner Friday evening. Saturday we'll be back at the track by 10am to attend the show and do the Parade Laps around Charlotte Motor Speedway starting at 12PM. After that we'll do dinner somewhere before heading home. We will not be doing the Saturday Night Banquet at Cabarrus Arena. If you guys go we'll get together at the show or museum and do dinner. Maybe there will be a few other YMR members there as well.

I had that same problem with mine when I replaced it back in 04. I looked online and found some good prices but it was a good thing I didn't order one of them. The only shop in town that replaced vert tops said he would only stand behind the installation if he used the brand of top he sold. Cost $900 for the top and install. I felt like I'd been robbed, but no problems since then.
